HERMITAGE

Image of HERMITAGE

A hermitage, from the Greek eremos meaning desolate or isolated, is a sanctuary of solitary contemplation and self-reflection, a spiritual refuge removed from the distractions and temptations of civilisation.

This 2.5m-wide panel is a recreation of the JJ Hermitage fishmongers and poulterers shop fascia, which could be found at 180 Northdown Road, Margate, between around 1897 and 1920, as featured in the 1903 tourist guide to Margate.

Check out my pinned story on Instagram for close-up video, and get in touch if you would like more pictures or information.

As this is a large piece it would be great if it could find a home in Margate, but shipping will be negotiated accordingly for buyers from elsewhere.
